Abstract

The background of the following paper is the substantial development in the logistics field with special regard to globalization and business internationalization going on in the past few years. The purpose of the paper is explain the major effects the globalization and market activities have on supply chain management, which has become the focal concept of the logistics activity. The final goal of the paper is to make a logical conotation between the contemporaneous national and international economic issues, known also as globalization, market competition and supply chain management. The results of the paper point out the basic implication that the globalization effects strongly influence the development of supply chain management.We showed the supply chains have been recognised as a global phenomenon. They indeed represent organizations, which boundaries are somehow impossible to define. Key Words: logistics, globalization, supply chains, supply chain management, market competition
