Research Data Management and Data Availability Policy

Research Data Management

Organizacija supports the principles of Open Science and promotes transparent, reproducible, and accessible research. Authors are encouraged to make research data underlying the results presented in their manuscripts openly available whenever possible.

Research data include all materials collected, generated, observed, or created during the research process, such as quantitative and qualitative datasets, questionnaires, interview transcripts, field notes, images, software code, algorithms, models, databases, and other materials necessary for validating and reproducing research findings.

Research data should be deposited in trusted repositories that ensure long-term preservation, accessibility, and compliance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Suitable repositories include institutional repositories, discipline-specific repositories, and general repositories such as Zenodo, DiRROS, Figshare, or equivalent services.

Research data should be made available according to the principle “as open as possible, as closed as necessary.” Where legal, ethical, privacy, security, intellectual property, commercial, or contractual restrictions apply, authors must clearly explain the reasons for restricted access.

The journal Organizacija publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Authors depositing research data are encouraged to apply appropriate licences in accordance with repository policies, funder requirements, and applicable legal or ethical restrictions.

Data Availability Statement

Authors must include a Data Availability Statement in all empirical research articles (seperate document).

The statement should specify:

  • whether the data are publicly available;
  • where the data are stored;
  • the name of the repository;
  • the dataset identifier (DOI, URL, Handle, or other persistent identifier);
  • conditions for accessing the data;
  • reasons for any restrictions on access.

Data available upon reasonable request

The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

Restricted access

The data that support the findings of this study are not publicly available due to ethical, legal, or privacy restrictions but are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

No new data generated

Data sharing is not applicable to this article because no new data were created or analysed in this study.

Citation of Research Data

Authors must appropriately cite all datasets, databases, software, source code, algorithms, protocols, and other research outputs used or generated during the research process.

Research data and other research outputs must be cited in the reference list at the end of the manuscript in accordance with repository instructions and the journal’s citation style.

If research data cannot be shared due to legal, ethical, confidentiality, copyright, commercial, or personal data protection restrictions, authors must provide an explanation in the Data Availability Statement.

Availability of Software, Code, and Analytical Tools

Authors should make available, whenever possible, any software, source code, scripts, algorithms, models, analytical procedures, or other digital materials necessary to verify, reproduce, or validate the results presented in the article.

Such materials should be deposited in an appropriate repository, included as supplementary material, or made available through another publicly accessible and persistent source. Where this is not possible, authors must provide a justification in the manuscript.

Responsibilities of Authors, Editors, and Reviewers

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • research data supporting the published results are deposited in an appropriate repository or that justified restrictions are clearly declared;
  • all relevant datasets, software, code, and other research outputs are properly cited;
  • the Data Availability Statement accurately reflects the status and accessibility of the research data;
  • sufficient information is provided to allow verification and replication of the reported research findings.

Editors and reviewers may request access to underlying research data and related materials during the review process. If research data or other research outputs have not been properly documented or cited, authors may be required to revise the manuscript before acceptance.

Research data should be publicly available no later than the publication date of the article unless justified exceptions apply. Any embargo on data access must be accompanied by a clear justification and specified end date.

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in trusted repositories, including:

  • Zenodo (https://zenodo.org)
  • DiRROS – Digital Repository of Research Organizations of Slovenia
  • Institutional repositories
  • Discipline-specific repositories
  • Other repositories that provide long-term preservation and persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI)
