The Role of Innovation in Sustainable Development

Abstract

The idea of sustainable development is based on holistic approach, which equally incorporates all three developing dimensions; the preservation of high economic growth and employment, encouragement of social development, and protection of natural environment. The article discusses the contribution of innovation in achieving sustainable principles, with the emphasis on environment. The concept of sustainable development is explained and the connection between innovation and sustainable development. The focus is on innovation and the role of innovative, technologically oriented enterprises to encouragement of economic development and employment. It is followed by the definition of environmental approaches in achieving sustainable economy.A connection between innovation and environmental problems is carried out in the last part, mainly through the role of supporting infrastructure of innovative enterprises in implementing sustainable development.
